My First Year With The Burnette Agency
Whenever it is someone’s birthday or anniversary, my family has the tradition of going around the table and talking about each of our favorite memories with that special person. I decided that since today is my “Savannah-versary,” AKA 365 days of working at The Burnette Agency, I would like to share a few of my favorite memories with all of you! So sit back and get ready to enjoy a few funny, heartfelt, and amazing year of memories!
The Interview
I can still remember the hiring process with Arielle. Even over the phone, before I met her in person, I knew this was where I wanted to begin my career. I always wanted to work with a start-up company, and luckily, Arielle was looking for her first Account Coordinator the same time I was looking to be a part of a growing team. We met on the patio of a Starbucks in Buckhead. Me, drinking my mocha frappuccino with no whip cream, and Arielle, drinking hot apple juice with cinnamon dolce. We began discussing social media and public relations, and it didn’t take me long to realize that everything I had been looking for in a business was right in front of me!
2. My First Client Meeting
Sam from Lewis and Sheron was the first client I ever met face-to-face. I would like to say I walked into that meeting calm, cool and collected, but I would be lying. I was nervous! I had never met a client in person before, and wanted to do my best to give a great first impression.
To take notes at this meeting, I brought my computer, which at the time had a few stickers on the front. One, a Dead and Company sticker, caught Sam’s eye. Without skipping a beat he asked, “You’re a fan of The Dead?” Though I was nervous, I was more focused on looking professional, and politely I replied, “Yes! They were great to see live,” but this answer opened a window for humor. Sam quickly brought to my attention I didn’t see “the real Dead” in concert because their lead singer, Jerry Garcia passed away in 1994. Unsure of how to compose what remained of my first impression, I was left speechless.
Today, Lewis and Sheron is one of my favorite clients to work with, and my meetings with Sam are always a pleasure!
3. Modeling
Yes I am 5 foot 8. Does that mean I model? Well...not until I began working at The Burnette Agency. Though my hands had been in a few photos before, I did not ever consider being in front of the camera until one cold day in Atlanta when, I found myself in Westside Provisions modelling a pair of Clarks for Abbadabba’s. Though I understood a job includes so much more than what the description discloses, I had never imagined being an Account Coordinator would lead to time in front of the camera.
4. All the Moments In Between
I could write an entire blog about the inside jokes, hilarious moments, and awful FSU war chants (GO TIGERS!) I’ve experienced over the last 365 days. Every day I walk into the office knowing at the end of the day I accomplished so much for local businesses, and I can’t wait to return to accomplish more!
When it comes to social media and creative services, we are excited to help business in Atlanta and surrounding areas!
