How To Be On Trend
In order to be on-trend, we must first understand what a trend is. A trend is a general direction in which something is developing or changing. For example, take dance trends on TikTok. The reason they catch on so fast is because of the full picture. The video has cool dance moves, a catchy or well-known sound, and/or the correct hashtags. Trends just don’t complete themselves, they have inspiration. People become inspired by seeing new and inventive fashion trends, pictures, videos, etc.
The things we can do to become inspired is to think as if there is no box. You know the saying, ‘think outside the box?’ Well today and going forward there is no box! You can do this by following accounts that you wouldn’t necessarily follow, create a TikTok, read anything about creativity, or have conversations with people you wouldn't usually talk to. You can also subscribe to newspapers, magazines, and podcasts! It is important to listen to what other people are saying, doing, and acting on. Also, keep an eye out for your competitors. I know for a fact that they are looking for inspiration everywhere to top the next company. Try and beat them to the punch. A great way to do that would be to use your insights and reach out to your target audience. I can’t express this enough, when customers are crazy about a company, they go crazy when the company reaches out to them. They want to talk to you, share their idea, and create a relationship. These are like unpaid employees with the best heart.
I would be silly if I did not take this time to remind you and the company to stay true to yourself. A trend is something that carries among a diverse group of people. It travels in and out of different communities and people add their own little twist to it, which is exactly what you should do. If you find a trend that best suits you and your company, find a way to put your own stamp on it. You could change a dance a little, wear your company's logo, and/or do something completely different. People love what you do, that’s why you have customers, so stay true to who you are and remember to think as if there is no box.
